Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences,St.Petersburg State University invites students, post-graduate students, and young scholars up to 35 years old (who do not hold post-graduate degrees) specializing in different fields of sciences and arts to participate in the VII Annual Smolny International Student Conference “Multidisciplinarity in Science and Arts: Challenges of the Future” on April 19-21,2018.
The conference will be held on April 19-21, 2018 at the Bobrinskiy Palace (58-60 Galernaya St, Saint Petersburg, Russia). This year Smolny Conference program will include panel presentations, roundtable discussions, workshops, lectures of leading scholars and teachers from St. Petersburg State University, as well as film screenings, show-debate and other events, offering students from different countries great opportunities for networking and collaboration. The working languages of the Smolny Conference are English and Russian. Conference has no registration fee.
Topics include but are not restricted to:
− Visual Arts
− Music and Theatre
− Natural Sciences (Cognitive Studies, Complex Systems, Computer Sciences and Artificial Intelligence, Life Sciences)
− Social Sciences
− Political Sciences
− Philology and Literature

An applicant can only submit one abstract for the Conference either as a single author or in co-authorship. In case an abstract is submitted in co-authorship both authors should be mentioned in one application. Each abstract should be linked with one of the topics listed above.
All abstracts are subject to blind peer-review by two independent referees according to the topic indicated in the application. Notification of acceptance will be e-mailed to the applicants by January30th,2018.
All accepted contributions will be published in the Abstract Book (indexed in Russian Citation Database elibrary.ru). Participants, whose presentations achieve recognition, will be given the opportunity to publish an article in a printed journal (indexed in Russian Citation Database elibrary.ru). The Organizing Committee reserves the right to reject those abstracts that do not follow the requirements or are submitted after December 15th, 2017.
Travel and accommodation cost compensation
Participants from other countries may apply for a compensation for travel and/or accommodation. To apply for funding one should:
− answer a special essay question in the Application Form
− provide a CV (with brief description of one’s professional and academic achievements)
− provide a scanned copy of a Letter of Recommendation signed by a research advisor. CV and Letter of Recommendation should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
The applicant is expected to be the presenter, i.e. the first author of the submission. All documents (Application Form, CV, scan of Letter of Recommendation) should be submitted before December15th,2017.
Results will be announced by February15 th, 2018. We remind you that you can also travel to the Conference at your own expense or seek financial assistance from your own University or Institute.
