Короткая аннотация (до 500 печатных знаков)

This course provides its participants an understanding of the Lithuanian private and public law. It presents the main features of the complex system of the Lithuanian law and its enforcement that helps the participants to understand the Lithuanian legal system better. The provided materials of the course are useable for the comparative legal research. The comparative law is a practical measure, which should help to understand the domestic jurisdiction better.

 

 

Предпосылки прохождения предмета

The basic knowledge of the public and private law are necessary for ability to analyze the Lithuanian legal structure by using of comparative legal methodology. The ability to discuss legal issues during lectures, seminars and interactively is required too. Successful participation is required to possess good command of the English language and be able to work properly with the legal Internet sources.

The objective of the course is to provide knowledge of the fundamental issues of the Lithuanian private and public law, showing its recent development.

Knowledge of the principles of national constitutional and ordinary law and the contents of the legal institutes

Knowledge of the main principles of the Lithuanian law and their application in the domestic jurisdiction and international comparative legal regulation

 

Lecture; Independent study of legal documents and cases;   Discussion.

Case study; Practical Exercises.

Knowledge and understanding of the main theories of law science representing the essence of law, its historical development, purpose and role in society.

 

Recognize different legal techniques used in Lithuanian law, and  how the EU legal rules works in the Lithuanian legal system.

Knowledge and understanding of the principles of law and problems of individual legal institutes in a specific legal system.

Improved critical thinking in analysis of the Lithuanian law and European Union Law; its similar, and whether different integration process;

Ability to apply the acquired knowledge in making independent decision in complex situations that require innovative/alternative approach, timely correction of decisions and priority differentiation. 

Improved skills of critical and comparative analysis of the Lithuanian and  EU legislation and case law in the jurisprudence of the Lithuanian Courts and the European Court of Justice

Структура накопительной оценки

 

▪          Participation in the forums, lecturers, seminars - 30% (contribution to the common result);

▪          Written assignments  – 40% (contribution to the common result);

▪          Examination [presentation and feedback] – 30% (contribution to the common result).
