Moodle Admin EHU -

Dear students,

We remind you that you can pay your tuition fees and related payments (accommodation in a dormitory, retakes of subjects, etc.) by bank transfer only from EU countries, the USA and some other countries. Payments to/from Belarus and Russia in all currencies by Lithuanian banks have been suspended.

Also you can pay in cash at the Paysera self-service terminal on campus at Savičiaus Street 17 (on the first floor), as well as at the Lithuanian Post Offices ("Lietuvos paštas").

From the spring semester of 2025, in the study process administration system studijos.liemsis.lt students (except students of the programs Informatics and Business Economics on the university branches) will find current payment receipts with the indicated payment amount, bank details, payment purpose (code) and other necessary data. Students also will receive information about the designated payments to your university e-mail.

This payment receipts must be taken with you when paying through a Lithuanian Post office (please note that from 7 February 2025 the commission fee will no longer apply when paying through the post office - this amount will be paid by the university). You must also have your passport or residence permit with you.

The information on the payment receipt will also help you when completing a bank transfer.

Post offices in Vilnius can be found by following the link.

Working hours of most offices:

Monday - Friday 10-19
Saturday 10-14
Sunday - closed.

Detailed instructions on paying in cash through the Paysera terminal located at Savičiaus g. 17 will be sent to all students by e-mail by the staff of the Student Affairs Service.

Extended registration!!! To the University of Cambridge course “History of the World since 1300” registration until September 10.

Moodle Admin EHU -

Dear students!

Let me give a few comments regarding the course “History of the World (HOW) since 1300” Princeton (USA)/Cambridge (UK)/SUNI and the registration procedure.

1. The course was developed on the basis of the Global History Laboratory of Princeton University (USA) under the leadership of Professor Jeremy Adelman.
2. The volume of the course is 42 academic contact hours (6 credits). This course will take you on a journey back in time. Like many other explorers you meet along the way, you travel back in time from when Genghis Khan's armies conquered Beijing and Baghdad in the 13th century and the Black Death decimated the Eurasian world to the global nomads and pandemics of today. Do earlier forms of globalization help us understand our own age? How can we understand old and new global divisions? The dynamics of combinations, differences, and divisions are many: spiritual, economic, environmental, ideological, military, and political.
3. The purpose of this course is to understand the great forces that bring parts of the world together, as well as those that tear them apart. This course is unique not only in its scale and scope. We study world history globally. This course matches you with students in 25 locations around the world. From Vietnam and Lebanon, to France and Nigeria, from Argentina to Afghanistan, ASUN students are taking the same course at the same time and posting and sharing their ideas on the course gallery website.
4. The duration of the course is 12 weeks - from September 19 to December 19, 2025. The program is attached. The beginning of classes in September, on the one hand, breaks into the vacation, on the other hand, allows you to take a third of a very difficult discipline in a good rhythm without crossing the main volume of classes.
5. The language of instruction is English.
6. The course is conducted remotely.
7. Due to Professor Jeremy Adelman's transfer from 2023 to the University of Cambridge (UK), the course will be taught on the Cambridge University platform.
8. The course ends with a mandatory exam and certificate from both universities.
9. Registration for the course is made at the link until September 7, 2025 inclusive.
10. The capacity of one group is from eight to ten people.
11. Condition for those intending to take a course beyond the curriculum and as an elective course for students in two forms of training, which are learned in the fall semester Seminars of the Second and Third  year.

After carefully weighing your capabilities and willingness to work during this period, write a short (up to 100 words) letter of motivation in the same format, expressing your personal interest and willingness not to leave the distance prematurely.

"Why might EHU students need to dive into world history 700 years deep? So that, emerging in the 21st century in any country of the world, to know who to "whistle up" and how to fill the sails”.  Sincerely,

A.Kalbaska, EHU professor emeritus
